If you actually bother to look at the site, you'll realize that California divided into north and south each have more classroom projects that requires funding than any other states as a whole. You'll also realize that amongst all the teachers asking for iPods, iPads, iReallyDon'tNeedThisInOrderToLearn's, there are teachers asking for stuff like books for the library, microscopes and slides for biology class, notebooks, journals, and PENCILS. FREAKING PENCILS that the schools cannot afford because funding has been slashed to the point where pencils are no longer considered as a necessity and therefore no longer included in the budget.

Go buy some pencils for lil kids who need it for school so they can learn to write, take notes and do some homework. You'll live without that damned double shot mochaccino with three servings of whipped cream. I promise.

After an entire summer of gloominess and rain - minus 5 days of sun and heat in August - summer seems to have finally arrived in San Diego. In October.

Armed with my super-duper-awesome-trooper new ipod, I went jogging at the park after work yesterday. Since it's still bright out, there're a few kids hanging out at the park. The younger ones were with parents or older siblings. The older ones were hanging around in their own little groups.

There was a group of 2 girls and 4 boys hanging out by the rec center. They're about 11-14, middle school age. The girls were sitting on a bench, just talking. The boys were on their skateboards and bikes. One of the girls was sort of looking towards the boys and giggling with her girlfriend. I looked over to the boys and saw the one on his bike caught her looking at him. He rode his bike with a little swagger on the pavement and winked at her from across the grass.

That was just so innocent and cute.

I was reminded of how when I was their age, the most important things in the world were: Does he like me? Are my parents gonna buy me that new [fill in the blank with the latest thing]? Life sure was easy back then. It's so strange that eventhough I'm not "old" by any means (me whining about being old at work will incite calls for stoning, hanging and burning), time and life passes at an incredibly rapid rate once the teenage years are over.

Anyway, I smiled when I was reminded of the easier, simpler (younger?) times. And the weather sure is nice outside. ;)

 To get to know an new artist or group really really helps me to make my day a better one :)

 I was frustrated while doing my homework, and my dog walked in, demanding her attention. She kept nosing my hand away from the keyboard and when that didn't work, she looked at the screen and then looked back at me with her eyebrows quirked as if to say "You'd choose this over me?" That helped with the homework frustration and I couldn't stop smiling at her expression. I decided to put off the homework for a while and play with her instead.

I just finished downloading the last of five CDs that were loaned to me a few weeks ago.

On the night before the last day of school, I got on iTunes to download "Who I am hates who I've been" because it summed up the situation between me and my bestfriend – enough said, right? But then I realized every Relient K song I listened to was also a perfect summary, and I was just sitting up crying and wanting to buy them all with which to mope. So I texted a kid I was really close to last year because I knew he loved Relient K.

It was 11:30 when I asked him to bring some CDs for me to borrow, and he showed up the next morning with three Relient K CDs and two burned with similar artists he thought I might like.

I didn't mope after that.

On Monday, the class of 2011 will become the oldest kids in the school – technical seniors.

My government class plans to celebrate by dressing up as Harry Potter characters, and we're getting extra credit for it. Today we spent most of class watching one of the stars of the basketball team swoosh his cape, adjust his glasses, and cast spells in a bad English accent.

Brian: "Oh, screw Maxilimilian."
Sally: "I do."
Brian: *laughs* "So do I."
Sally: "You two bastards!"
Brian: "Shouldn't that be three!"

This is the kind of drama that I want to have in my relationships, if any. Conflicting points of view even in somewhat self-aware weakness. Some drama is more tolerable than others. It's my idea of a stronger unity.
